 The University of Sheffield have an exciting opportunity in the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) to join the Health Economics and Decision Science (HEDS) Section as part of the Sheffield Alcohol Research Group (SARG). You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing support to health economics/decision modelling research staff on a range of applied policy and methodological research with a particular focus on the effects of alcohol and of tobacco.

The post is funded as part of the UK Prevention Research programme:- Shaping public health policies to reduce inequalities and harm (SPECTRUM). The projects involve designing and undertaking health economic, statistical, and epidemiological modelling-based analyses for policy appraisal.

Analysis of complex datasets and design of health economic models are key activities, as is
methodological development to support the policy appraisal process. You will also contribute to writing research and consultancy tenders, and contribute to the Section’s teaching responsibilities by delivering tutorials.

The Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) changes lives by bringing people and knowledge together to reduce the harms of alcohol and other drugs on society. The Director, Indigenous Partnerships and Strategies, will build CCSA’s internal capacity for initiating and growing these reciprocal relations, including the creation and implementation of a strategic plan that includes significant steps toward reconciliation. Project Summary
This project addresses national priorities of improving the mental health of the Scottish population and reducing the harms caused by substance use, by focusing on understanding health service access among a group who have very high rates of mental health and substance use needs - people released from prison.

The successful candidate will work as central part of a supportive interdisciplinary team made up of researchers with expertise in applied health, social science, social policy, data science, and epidemiology, as well colleagues with experience of imprisonment and health care provision in justice contexts.

Description of Duties 

The successful applicant will be responsible for day-to-day running of the study and will have responsibility for analysing linked administrative data. Principally, this will involve:

  • Working closely with an interdisciplinary and inter-institutional team to ensure successful day to day management, coordination, and administration of the study

This person must be 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors in Human Services or related field preferred. The regular Family Teacher must function as a positive role model for residents.

Reports to: Recovery Supervisor

Job Summary: Family Teachers can help youth learn to function in a home-like setting.  By example and teaching primarily using the Teaching Family Model (TFM) modality; Family Teachers can offer; healthy values, a safe and secure structured environment, and opportunities for relationship building.  Family Teachers will work as a full member of a treatment team for home of residents. Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs. 

Basic Responsibilities       

  • Provide clear consistent home rules and daily routines for residents through the use of the TFM system.
  • Implement the TFM to fidelity through the use of complete teachings with an understanding of the theories that underlie TFM Core training, including: learning theory, motivation systems, and skills curriculum.
  • Participate in monthly TFM consultations to identify strengths and areas for growth in using the model.
  • Participate in yearly evaluations for certification as a Family Teacher.
  • Supervise student daily tasks/ activities; chores, laundry, homework, meal times, chapel, recreation, athletic games, etc.
  • Work with treatment team members and general staff to develop, implement, and review resident’s treatment plans and quarterly reports.
  • Counsel residents within the TFM skill scope: social, interpersonal relationships, personal hygiene, domestic skills, work habits, etc.
  • Work with families of residents as requested by members of the treatment team.
  • Provide basic first aid for residents and keep necessary records of resident’s medical needs. 
  • Apply universal precautions procedures when exposed to bodily fluids. 
  • Accompany residents to medical appointments when necessary.
  • Maintain home cleanliness (report all major maintenance problems).
  • Provide recreation/activities for residents and walk residents to various campus facilities.
  • Engage in conflict resolution, intervene in crisis situations, and physically restrain residents with trained technique when necessary.
  •      Perform administrative functions: daily shift report, client progress note, order requisition, clothing records, student checkbooks, treatment work, IL logs, signature cards, signature bank book, etc. 
  • Promote a Christ-Centered environment within the home and campus setting facilitating and/or supporting Family Teacher facilitation of devotions in the home setting; support White’s Chaplain and/or Spiritual Life Director in campus Spiritual Life programming.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, review boards, etc.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being for youth (i.e. monitor medication including psychotropic medications, First aid needs, physical needs, bedding, diet, recreation, and emotional needs).
  • Prepare meals for the home as needed. (Sunday night, breakfast daily, and when the cafeteria is closed).
  • Complete other duties as required by the Recovery Supervisor.

Skill, Supervision, Knowledge, and Ability

  • This position requires a person to work independently. Family Teachers must be: organized, at work on time, willing to work additional shifts, and able to take on extra job responsibilities.
  • This person needs to enjoy working with other staff members and have the ability to get along in a community type environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be open to different styles of intervening with residents. 
  • A willingness to be involved in training and learning new ways to deal with residents.
  • Must demonstrate the needed skills to work with residents:  relationship building, structured, flexible, communication, assertiveness, genuineness, patience, balance of grace and truth, and composure in crisis situations.
  • Must be able to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Must be committed to the Mission, Core Values, and Vision of White’s Recovery and Family Services.

Physical Demands of Position

  • Must be able to be on feet for extended periods of time, do significant walking, and actively supervise home recreation.
  • Able to perform routine home maintenance and cleaning, planting flowers, painting, scrubbing floors, etc.
  • Apply the MindSet physical restraint techniques for residents who are in crisis (expected to meet the requirements of MindSet physical restraints).
  • Must have energy and stamina to work from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on a regular basis.

Working Conditions

  • Work days will be scheduled on a two week cycle.  Options include7AM-10PM, 6AM-2PM, or 2PM-10PM
  • Attend work regularly and be on time.
  • Flexibility in taking days off may be necessary.
  • Will work holidays as scheduled.

Reports to: Vice President and Executive Director of Recovery Services

Job Summary:Provide clinical services/treatment including assessment, treatment planning/oversight, and counseling to youth and their families meeting the clinical requirements of the ASAM 3.5 Level of Care.  The therapist must demonstrate sensitivity to the service population’s religious, cultural, and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.

Basic Responsibilities

Treatment

  • Ensure adherence to the ASAM 3.5 Level of Care requirements for clinical services per week
  • Provide group, individual, and family treatment using evidenced based modalities for individuals with Substance Use Disorders   
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours crisis response for the Residential Campus

Administrative

  • Complete Clinical Assessments to provide DSM diagnoses for clients
  • Complete Recovery Services Treatment Plans and update every seven days to meet ASAM 3.5 requirements  
  • Complete Recovery Services prior authorizations to meet Medicaid and Insurance requirements
  • Complete Service Note Documentation per White’s policy
  • Complete Critical Incident Reports when necessary
  • Approve and update safety plans when required based on youth special precautions
  • Assist with Recovery Services development research, planning, and implementation

Supervisory

  • Participate with staff development activities relating to mental health/substance use diagnoses and treatment provision
  • Provide clinical expertise or trainings for internal needs and external stakeholders

Consumer Relations

  • Serve as the primary contact for youth family members 
  • Communicate with placing agents as needed and when requested
  • Participate in Child and Family Team meetings as requested by state agencies (DCS or Probation).

Skills, Supervision, Knowledge, and Ability

  • Must be a strong facilitator of group treatment modalities including the Matrix Program, CBT, DBT, etc.
  • Must complete training and utilize Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) with youth needing treatment for trauma  
  • Must be able to deliver Family Education training to families at different socioeconomic levels 
  • Participate and complete Teaching Family Model of Care training
  • Participate with staff development activities relating to mental health diagnoses and treatment provision

Physical Demands of Position

  • Must be able to actively participate in the physical restraint of youth who are in crisis (expected to meet the requirements of Mindset restrictive interventions).
  • Must be able to handle the stress of intervening in crisis situations, handling medical emergencies, and be able to make quick decisions considering the risk management needs of the organization
  • Must be able to do significant walking

Working Conditions

  • Normal work hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Flexibility will be required to meet the specific needs of the Recovery Services Program

The London School of Hygiene &Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice. 

Seeking to make an appointment of a Research Fellow to join the NIHR funded Applied Research Collaboration Mental Health Implementation Network (MHIN). The MHIN works to support the delivery and evaluation of evidence based mental health interventions in England. This includes working with local and regional organisations to enable the adoption and spread of national projects with a proven evidence base, as well as the refining projects to develop and pilot selected interventions in the local healthcare system, with a view to scaling up.  The Research Fellow will work with a bespoke consortium of MHIN projects to evaluate the implementation of mental health interventions in different regions of England.  This post is based in the evaluation team of the MHIN led by Professor Annette Boaz (LSHTM) and Professor Nick Sevdalis (King’s College London). 

There will be opportunities to contribute to the wider academic activities of the Faculty of Public Health and Policy (to include teaching and assessment) and to participate in appropriate training and quality assurance processes for such roles.

Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) in applied health, social or behavioural sciences or implementation science other relevant discipline and relevant experience in conducting complex evaluations using both qualitative and quantitative methods of enquiry, working in multi-disciplinary teams and projects, like the MHIN consortium, and publishing research. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time and fixed term until 30 September 2023.

The Substance Use Disorder Specialist will provide mental health counselling, case management, and other services for clients and provide leadership, guidance, and training for other staff in substance use disorder treatment. The Substance Use Disorder Specialist can work in many Interim, Inc. programs, such as supported housing, homeless services, crisis residential and substance use residential and treatment services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of full-time (two years preferred) experience in mental health and substance use treatment or CADAC II or equivalent Alcohol and drug certification with three years of full-time experience. Good written and oral English communication skills, word processing and data entry/retrieval skills preferred; ability/willingness to learn computer skills required, ability to work as a member of a team, to accept supervision, to maintain appropriate boundaries while working in close interpersonal relationships. Ability to learn and apply principles of social rehabilitation, Client Centred and trauma informed services. Ability to be organised, responsible, flexible, empathic and able to relate effectively with clients, other staff, professionals and members of the community. Knowledge of community resources desirable.

Preferred: Two years experience in mental health and substance use treatment.

Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorisation to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Professional or Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee with SUDP training completed.

General Summary of Duties : The Substance Use Disorder Professional functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team while demonstrating the clinical skill and experience to assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support services for the people we serve. Provides integrated substance use disorder and mental health treatment for those we serve to include: assessment, collaborative treatment planning, individual, family, and group therapy and perform all duties necessary to comply with relevant Kitsap County Substance Use Disorder Treatment Contracts and all other regulatory agencies.

Consider every idea and responsibility contained herein through the lens of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), and specifically oriented towards promoting Recovery for the people we serve in our unit, as well as anywhere in KMHS at large. These two guiding principles form an umbrella under which all services provided are contained.

To improve the operations of KMHS in support of its stated mission. To provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers. The Kitsap Mental Health Services community fosters a culture of hope and empowerment through a safe, welcoming environment, compassionate relationships, and a commitment to respecting life experiences.

 

Minimum Qualifications :
EDUCATION: Associates Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field and completion of SUDP Education.

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation.

WA Food Worker Card if working at Pacific Hope & Recovery.

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration. Current licensure as a Substance Use Disorder Professional or SUDPt with the ability to obtain SUDP within a year.

The project focuses on palliative and end of life care for people who use, or have used, substances (alcohol or other drugs). We are working with 10 partners in Liverpool and Sefton to try to develop a new model of care which will improve people's access to services and their experiences of palliative and end of life care when they get there.

The project spans social and health care and comprises a multi-disciplinary team of people within and outside the University, including partners in MerseyCare NHS Foundation Trust and Voicebox Inc., a community voices group. The project is just one of a large number of research and knowledge exchange projects sitting with the SUAB research group (Substance Use and Associated Behaviours). We have a wide range of expertise and interest within the group on many different aspects of substance use and related behaviours.

CDPC is recruiting a Senior Policy Analyst to provide in-depth policy analysis, towards knowledge mobilization, public education and advocacy for the reform of Canadian drug policies. The Senior Policy Analyst will provide leadership in the development and implementation of CDPC’s evolving policy advocacy framework. In doing so, this senior level position will proactively liaise with a national coalition of organizations and individuals to improve and innovate approaches for harm reduction, decriminalization, safe supply, and legal regulation of drug production, distribution and access within the Canadian context.

The Senior Policy Analyst will provide CDPC and its partners with analyses of the implications of existing policies and proposed reforms. This will include review of existing legislation, development of policy positions, engagement on proposed policy regulations, and facilitation of outreach to policy makers.

The Senior Policy Analyst will lead and incorporate input from deliberative dialogues with CDPC staff, coalition members and other stakeholders to examine and develop positions on and propose solutions to critical drug policy issues.

The Senior Policy Analyst will develop and maintain proactive relations with organizations developed by people who use drugs, advocacy organizations, Indigenous and First Nations leadership, senior officials in all levels of government, relevant NGOs, researchers, and philanthropic organizations that focus on public policy issues.

The Senior Policy Analyst will provide input on CDPC’s research strategy, including identification of research gaps and knowledge mobilization with key stakeholder groups, in alignment with CDPC’s mission and strategic priorities.

The UNODC Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA) internship is for two (2) months with an opportunity for extension to a maximum of six (6) months, pending on the needs of the department.


The aim of the internship is to provide the selected candidate with hands on experience in the United Nations. The Advocacy Section, Public Affairs and Policy Support Branch, Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) internship is for a period of three months, with possibility of extension up to six months, starting in November 2022. 

The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. Subject to the COVID-19 situation in Austria and in the country of the selected candidate, the internship may have to be carried out partially or fully remotely. 

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Translate UNODC web pages, new web stories, social media content, and campaign materials into Spanish and upload on relevant platforms 
• Proofread press releases translated into Spanish
• Assist in the management of UNODC Twitter accounts 
• Prepare monthly reports for website and social media analytics 
• Conduct research relevant to the work of UNODC 
• Compile and disseminate daily press clippings on UNODC and its mandate areas 
• Maintain social media and media database
• Perform other duties within the communications team as assigned.
