Novas intervenções de saúde pública são necessárias para lidar com o fornecimento de drogas tóxicas e atender às necessidades das pessoas que usam drogas em meio à crise de overdose. O fornecimento mais seguro – distribuição de baixa barreira de substâncias de grau farmacêutico – foi implementado em algumas jurisdições para fornecer alternativas mais seguras ao fornecimento não regulamentado de medicamentos, mas nenhum estudo até o momento explorou as perspectivas das partes interessadas profissionais sobre essa abordagem.

Mid-America Addiction Technology Transfer Center (MATTC) partnered with the Ethnic Communities Opioid Response Network in Missouri, the Addiction Policy Forum, and the Opioid Response Network (ORN in IA, KS, MO, and NE) to translate 5 different evidence-based prevention products "Prevention of Opioid Use Education Materials"  into 12 different languages, and ensure they are culturally appropriate, including Arabic, Bosnian, Burmese, Dari, French, Mandarin Chinese, Pashto, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Tagalog (Filipino) and Ukrainian.

The connection between homelessness and substance use is well recognised and an issue that impacts countries around the world. People who experience substance use related issues and homelessness are extremely vulnerable to a range of harms and can find it challenging to access appropriate support that will adequately meet their needs.
