Abstract

Introduction:

Adoption of rigorous standards for reporting treatment fidelity is essential for advancing discovery, validation, and implementation of behavioral treatments. Whereas the NIH Behavior Change Consortium (BCC) developed an assessment tool to assess quality of reporting and monitoring of treatment fidelity across health behavior change interventions, it has not yet been applied specifically to treatment fidelity in behavioral tobacco treatment trials.

Rates of smoking among people living with HIV are greater than the number of people who smoke within the general population.

This article, published in the Journal of Nicotine and Tobacco, examines the smoking patterns and behaviours of people living with HIV and who are receiving care in Uganda. 

The researchers recruited 777 individuals over the course of one year and collected information on their date of birth, sex, education, and marital status, self-reported data on the number of years since HIV diagnosis, ART status, stress levels, other substance use and smoking status.

Introducción: la atención es un proceso básico relacionado con el comportamiento adictivo. En fumadores, los estímulos asociados al consumo son relevantes debido a que están presentes en el inicio y en la consolidación del hábito tabáquico. Background:

Rates of smoking among those with serious mental illness (SMI) are two to three times higher than for the general population. Smoking is rarely addressed in mental health settings. Smoking is still prevalent among people with substance use disorders.
