The trainee will be allocated within the Substance use, harms and responses unit, and the selected candidate will be reporting to the Head of the Drugs use, harms and addictive behaviours sector.

The successful applicant will be requested to perform the following main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Analyse the disaggregated data on acute drug toxicity presentations to sentinel hospitals – (possible topic of the analysis: sex differences in polydrug associations).
  • Analyse the trends in the patterns of polysubstance associations involved in drug-induced deaths (aggregated data in selected countries).
  • Analyse the trends in the patterns of polysubstance use among clients seeking substance use treatment (treatment demand indicator).
  • Map data collection tools for polysubstance use in all monitoring systems in the DHAB Sector.
  • Support the organisation of relevant expert meetings for the unit and sector.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union, Norway or Türkiye. Candidates from other countries may apply.
  • Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the applicable laws concerning military service.
  • Be physically fit to perform the duties of the post.
  • Have completed the first cycle of a higher education course (university education) and obtained a full degree or its equivalent by the closing date for applications. 
  • Have a thorough knowledge of oral and written English. 

General selection requirements:

  • A completed university degree in public health, epidemiology, pharmacology, or a clinical background, quantitative analysis, and research experience.
  • Independent user of R or some other statistical language.
  • Experience in working with Power BI.
  • Experience in working in the field of public health or epidemiology.
