Welcoming Dr. Nicolás Poliansky as ISSUP Argentina National Chapter Director

Dr. Nicolás Poliansky, PhD

The International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP) Argentina is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Nicolás Poliansky, PhD, as the new Director of the ISSUP Argentina National Chapter. 

Dr. Poliansky is a psychologist and researcher with a PhD in Health Sciences. He brings to this role a wealth of experience and passion for the field of mental health and addictive disorders. Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Poliansky has made significant contributions across academia, international organisations, civil society, and the public and private health sectors. His work also intersects with other critical areas, such as education and justice. 

Dr. Poliansky's areas of expertise include the development and management of prevention, treatment, and research projects; the creation of specialised program content; the training of trainers; and consultancy at both national and international levels. He is actively involved in several esteemed scientific associations, including the Argentine Association of Mental Health (AASM), the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), ISSUP, and the Colombo Plan's Drug Advisory Programme. 

In addition, Dr. Poliansky serves as a Global Trainer in Drug Demand Reduction Prevention and Treatment for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), ISSUP, and the Organization of American States’ Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (OAS-CICAD). He also holds the position of external consultant in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support with the International Organization for Migration (UN Migration) and is a Full Professor at the University of the Argentine Social Museum (UMSA). His longstanding role as a Board Member of ISSUP Argentina further reflects his commitment to advancing the field. 

ISSUP Argentina expresses its deepest gratitude to Dr. Verónica Brasesco for her exemplary leadership and dedicated service as the outgoing Director. Dr. Brasesco has played an instrumental role in strengthening drug demand reduction efforts in Argentina and has been a guiding force for ISSUP's mission in the country. 

As ISSUP Argentina embarks on this new chapter under Dr. Poliansky's leadership, we look forward to continued growth, innovation, and impact in the field of substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery
